2014 MLK Day of Service
Seventy-five current volunteers and alumni in Chicago and Washington, D.C. joined together in service on MLK Day. D.C. volunteers were even joined by Vice President Joe Biden! Click here to read about these events or view our photos on Facebook.
Washington, DC Service Day
Former and current volunteers gathered on Saturday, April 28 to help with the breakfast and lunch shifts at Catholic Volunteer Network member program, So Others Might Eat (SOME). It was great to get out in our own neighborhood and serve alongside volunteers from other groups to support an amazing ministry. Take a look at a few pictures on our Facebook page.
Los Angeles Service Day
On March 17, former and current volunteers joined Catholic Volunteer Network staff at the Downtown Women's Center in Los Angeles' Skid Row. We prepared lunch for more than 100 women, and toured the Center, which provides many day services and transitional housing for homeless women. Take a look at pictures from the service day and our AmeriCorps dinner that weekend.
2012 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service
Make it a Day On, Not a Day Off
Nearly 50 Chicago-area alumni of faith-based volunteer programs joined Catholic Volunteer Network staff to volunteer on January 16, 2012, in honor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.
They served dinner to guests at Franciscan Outreach Association's Marquard Center, then enjoyed a simple meal together and a time of reflection with Mark Laboe, Vice President of University Ministries at DePaul University and former director of Amate House. Check out photos of the event on our Facebook page!
