Conversation | JVC Community Conversations: Showing Up as an Ally and Accomplice

December 17, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm EST

While the pandemic was at its height so was hate crimes against Asians, there was a series of high-profile killing of Black Americans and a rush of people purchasing books about being anti-racist. Now what?

The fight for justice continues. How are you showing up as an accomplice, ally, co-conspirator and what do all these terms mean?

Join us in conversation with Jade Agua, the director of USC Equity Institutes to discuss what she has noticed unfold the last few months within the diversity, equity and inclusion space and things to consider as we rebuild our institutions. The mission of the USC Equity Institute is to illuminate, disrupt, and dismantle racism in all its forms. They do this through rigorous interdisciplinary research, high-quality professional learning experiences, the production and wide dissemination of useful tools, trustworthy consultations and strategy advising, and substantive partnerships.

Jade K. Agua, M.P.A., is the USC Equity Institutes Director at the University of Southern California (USC) Race and Equity Center. Prior to this role, she served as the Director of the Cross-Cultural Center at the University of California, Irvine where she also helped to establish the Womxn’s Hub.
