Catholic Volunteer Network is pleased to continue From Service to Sisterhood, an initiative that seeks to strengthen the vitality of congregations of women religious through the development of volunteer programs. This three-year project is possible thanks to the support of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. The following funding opportunities are now available for congregations of women religious:
Seed Funding for New Volunteer Programs
Catholic Volunteer Network invites congregations of women religious to request seed money to initiate volunteer programs of their own. Congregations that are interested in starting a program, but lack the full resources at this time, may apply for assistance in initiating pilot projects. CVN will work with the congregations to develop sustainable programs, so that the funds are being used effectively for long-term impact.
Considering that start-up programs likely have budgets of approximately $90,000 (Salary, benefits, and volunteer expenses), congregations may make funding requests up to $45,000. Congregations may re-apply for funding in future years, as long as the program is moving forward successfully and the amount of funding requested is gradually reduced. The expectation will be that each program will be self-sustaining by the end of the project. CVN will work closely with the religious congregations to ensure satisfactory progress, encouraging improvement where needed. Click here to download the application form. The application deadline is October 16, 2015.
