Marist Brothers Center at Esopus

Goal of Program

To provide hospitality ministry, and foster a culture of hospitality to high school students, young adults, and adults while hosting retreats, various youth ministries, as well as young adult/adult formation programs.

Type of Placement

In the winter months, we provide and host high school retreats, Outdoor Adventure programs, youth ministry events, and support adult formation programs. In the summer our Main Retreat House becomes the Mid-Hudson Valley Camp, which is a nine week program (each week is a new camp), that strives to reach out to marginalized populations, including special needs and inner-city kids.

Service Area

High Schools, colleges, and parishes in the New York-New Jersey metro area and Hudson Valley.

Service Length

One year beginning the first week of September.

Program Size

Two or Three Volunteers


Men and women, at least 21 years old, some college, willing to participate in the life of the Marist community, definite interest in working with high school and college students.

Financial Arrangements

Room and board, small stipend, health insurance coverage, and some transportation.

Living Arrangements

Live within an established Marist Community on property (the Cottage)


On-site training from directors: program orientation and training in youth ministry and the use of materials and equipment for presentations.
