Mountain Companion Ministry - Mt. Irenaeus

Goal of Program

Our goal is to invite men and women to live as part of a core community with Franciscan friars to further proclaim our Gospel manner of life and ministry to the world. Our community is rooted in the Franciscan tradition. We are committed to simple, joyful healing with God and all creation through contemplation and the communal experience with God's justice, love and peace in contemporary life.

Type of Placement

We provide servant leadership in many ways, including planning and facilitation of retreats, hospitality, maintenance of our grounds, and outreach. We work often with students from St. Bonaventure University. There are opportunities with local church groups, and taking part in a flourishing On the Road ministry. Our virtual gatherings and social media content are areas of growth! We are an intentional community that shares a common life. Four facets are: Prayer (personal and communal), Contemplation (amid all creation) Fraternitas (men and women pursuing life together) Evangelization (of our Catholic, Franciscan mission). Christians and others interested in Franciscan spirituality are considered. Candidates should be mature, well-balanced, spiritually motivated, and in good physical health. Other qualities include flexibility, sense of humor, high level of energy to work with youth, and ability to relate to others in a loving, non-judgmental way. There is space for creativity as well!
