Goal of Program:To provide an opportunity to any young adult who would like to volunteer and experience what it is like to work with young people, while living and being part of a religious community.
Type of Placement:Volunteers serve in youth centers, parish youth ministries, and high schools.
Service Area:San Francisco, Richmond, Watsonville, Rosemead, Los Angeles and Bellflower in California; Laredo in Texas and Ciudad Juarez, Tijuana and Colima in Mexico.
Service Length:Long-term: one year. Short-term: six months.
Requirements:Volunteers must be between 18 and 35 years of age, high school graduates, Catholic or Christian, and single with no dependents.
Financial Arrangement:Medical insurance, departure transportation, room and board are provided for the volunteers.
Living Arrangements:The volunteers live in community with the Salesians.
Program Size:20 volunteers; two per location.
Training:Two week long training session provided.
Application Deadline:Anytime, preferably April - May.
