Sisters of Saint Joseph of Concordia, Kansas - CSJ Volunteer Program
Goal of Program
CSJ Volunteers is an opportunity to volunteer with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Concordia, Kansas, as we live and work so all may be one. CSJ Volunteers are invited to self-giving love through ministry opportunities in our communal setting as together we give witness to Gospel values. We offer a variety of ministry experiences primarily in Kansas. Volunteers live in community with our Sisters sharing in meals, prayer, cooking, cleaning, fellowship, etc.
Type of Placement
Short-term and Long-term options in Concordia, Kansas: Manna House of Prayer : assist staff in the hospitality to those persons making retreats, days of reflection, conferences; organic gardening and local advocacy of needy; provide services for seniors at local assisted care/nursing home and assist our sisters. Neighbor to Neighbor : provide support and services to local women and women with children; assist in community offices. Spring Break Alternative : stay at Manna House of Prayer; work with local organizations and CSJ sponsored ministries to provide services to the community, share reflection and prayer in a daily manner.

Service Length
Short-term: One to three months; Long-term: three months to 1 year+. There are additional options for local residents who wish to volunteer for a limited number of hours per week at one of our local ministry sites.
Program Size
Varies from one to several volunteers. It can depend on the place of ministry, time of year, and the needs of our ministries.
Requirements
Single, or married, 18 years or older. Volunteers must be willing and able to work with others, desire to live simply, be in good health, have a sense of commitment to service, be open to the CSJ Mission, be available for an interview. *To serve as a volunteer at our Brazil mission, the volunteer must speak fluent Portuguese.
Financial Arrangements
All volunteers must provide their own transportation to and from the program site. Public transportation is encouraged and funds are provided during the volunteer experience unless for personal use. Volunteers receive room and board, plus a small monthly stipend, if their stay is beyond 3 months.
Living Arrangements
Live in community with CSJ vowed members, Agregees, or Associates.
Training
Once an application and a background check have been completed, the volunteer will need to complete the Orientation to Mission-Vision of Sisters of Saint Joseph. There will also be an on-site orientation to the local community and the ministry/placement site at the beginning of experience.
