SPIRITUS Ministries
Goal of Program
SPIRITUS has two goals: to inspire thousands of Catholic youth and to form young adults as lifelong missionary disciples and leaders for the Church.
Type of Placement
SPIRITUS missionaries are young adults between the ages of 19-29 who ignite the faith of Catholic youth through dynamic retreats and parish youth ministry internships. The missionaries inspire youth in grades 2-12 to live their faith and grow closer to God using music, dramas, activities, witnesses, and small and large group discussions. There are two types of volunteer positions available: Youth Ministry Internship Missionaries and Retreat Missionaries. Retreat Missionaries focus their efforts on leading retreats and spiritual programming for youth in parishes and schools throughout Wisconsin. Youth Ministry Interns lead some retreats and gain vital youth ministry skills by learning to: implement a comprehensive youth ministry program; engage youth and adults to call them into the ministry; plan, organize, and execute programming; present spiritual programs and retreats in dynamic ways; successfully collaborate with a parish staff; facilitate meetings and small groups effectively; and disciple youth.
