VIP - Visitation Internship Program
Goal of Program
The Mission of VIP is to extend the ministry of the Visitation Sisters of Minneapolis, which is to Live Jesus in north Minneapolis, MN. The year provides opportunities to expand the VIP's awareness and application of the Catholic Church's tenets on social justice by living in community, developing relationships in the neighborhood, studying and applying Salesian spirituality to their lives, and doing ministry within north Minneapolis, a low-income and culturally-rich neighborhood just north of downtown Minneapolis.
Type of Placement
Tutoring and literacy programs, soup kitchen and food distribution, Education and retreat work, camp counseling and coaching, Peace and Justice advocacy, Hispanic ministry, gardening and groundskeeping, community organizing, and developing immersion experiences for young adults.

Requirements
Women and men between the ages of 21-35 who seek to do direct service to those in need while living simply in Christian community, in relationship with the Visitation Sisters.
Financial Arrangements
VIP's receive housing, medical insurance, $200 monthly stipend and monthly bus card.
Living Arrangements
VIP's live with other volunteers or with local people affiliated with the Monastery.
Training
VIP's arrive in late August and receive a week of orientation before beginning their service .
Application Deadline
Applications preferred by June 1, but will be considered on a rolling basis.
