Goal of Program: Rostro de Cristo mission is to inspire a lifelong commitment to a faith that works for justice through transformative, intercultural experiences living the Gospel of Christ in solidarity with marginalized communities. The program invites participants to: be in relationship with Haitians and Dominicans seeking to improve their lives and the lives of their families who live in the sugarcane planations in and around the town of Consuelo. Our participants collaborate with the Scalabrini Sisters and their NGO, ASCALA, supporting these communities in their work to achieve a justice. Our participants live Gospel values focused on a simple lifestyle, building intentional community, serving others, and sharing faith. The emphasis of the RdC program is always on being with the people and forming relationships, which serve as the most powerful and profound means of expressing God's love to each other.
Placement Type: Rostro de Cristo partner in the Dominican Republic, ASCALA, provides legal, spiritual, and educational services, and supports community organizing and small business training. We seek working professionals with previous long-term intercultural experiences (fellows) and recent college gradutates seeking to live our values in community and gain life and professional experience (volunteers) who will with humility support ASCALA's mission. Rostro de Cristo also collaborates with ASCALA to host high school, college and parish retreat/immersion groups throughout the year.

Pay Range: $2000 per month plus health insurance, airfare, etc.
Fellows serve full-time, preferably for a minimum one-year, alongside other RdC fellows and local partners, with opportunities for extension. Roles are tailored to the fellows’ skills and interests to serve the needs of the local community and are developed collaboratively during the first month of the fellowship. A diversity of backgrounds, skills, and experiences are welcome.
