Christian Appalachian Project
Goal of Program: Based in Eastern Kentucky, Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) strives to meet both the immediate needs of persons living in poverty and empower residents to achieve long-term goals. CAP serves people in need (children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities) in Eastern Kentucky. CAP Volunteers commit to the pillars of Service, Community, and Spirituality and/or personal reflection. CAP offers a strong cultural experience, an assortment of service placements, an interdenominational Christian environment, and a flexible time commitment.
Placement Type: AmeriCorps Members serve in programs addressing issues of poverty, education, substandard housing, hunger, and more.
Short-term: Various opportunities available year-round, including opportunities for experienced home repair crew leaders and in our Christmas distribution and summer school supply programs.
Summer Camp opportunities for camp counselors, photography/social media coordinators, lifeguards, medical personnel, office helpers, cooks, and arts and crafts instructors for two summer camps.
Group opportunities: available March-November, serving one week repairing or building homes.
