Global Mission Fellows

Goal of Program

Global Mission Fellows are young adults, ages 20–30, who are committed to work in social justice ministries for two years. They serve outside of their home communities, either in the United States or overseas. This graduate-level fellowship allows participants to address the root causes of oppression and alleviate human suffering alongside community organizations in a variety of issues.

Type of Placement

Fellows serve in communities around the world addressing the root causes of the following issues: Worker’s Rights, Racial Justice, Peace Building, Migration/Immigration, Financial Stability, Indigenous Issues, Food Security, Home Security, Health/HIV and AIDS, Gender Justice, Environmental Justice (Sustainable Agriculture), Education, Collegiate Ministries, and Children/Youth Issues.

Service Area

Fellows serve in one placement site either in the United States or outside the United States during their time of service.

Service Length

Approximately 24 months

Program Size

Typically, a little over 100 Fellows are in service at the same time.

Requirements

Be a Christian, between the ages of 20-30 in the year that service begins, commit to serve for 2 years, hold a bachelor’s degree of equivalent life/work experience, called to address the root causes of injustice, call to live out faith while seeking peace and transformation, able to communicate in English at a professional proficiency level, willing to relocate.

Financial Arrangements

Fellows participate in fundraising for the program but are given a simple living stipend. The Program provides for relocation costs, competitive medical insurance, and an end of service award.

Living Arrangements

Training

A 2-3 week training is provided prior to Fellows leaving for service. The Fellows are trained as a cohort and are able to stay in contact with others in their cohort during their time of service. Training is provided by staff from Global Ministries. Additional training opportunities are offered during the time of service.
