Service Days

Throughout the year, Catholic Volunteer Network sponsors Service Days in cities across the United States. This is an opportunity to join together with volunteer alumni, current volunteers, program staff, and other friends of Catholic Volunteer Network to serve your local community.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service

Make it a day ON, not a day OFF!

In 1994, Congress designated the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday as a national day of service.. Taking place each year on the third Monday in January, the MLK Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service – a "day on, not a day off," giving Americans of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to honor the legacy of Dr. King through service to their community. The MLK Day of Service empowers individuals, strengthens communities, bridges barriers, creates solutions to social problems, and moves us closer to Dr. King's vision of a "Beloved Community." More information about this national day of service can be found at www.mlkday.gov.

Every year Catholic Volunteer Network provides the opportunity for current and former volunteers to come together to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. through service to our communities. Details about 2016 MLK Day events will be posted in December.
