Posted by St. Joseph Worker Program, Orange, CA: Explore the possibility of becoming a teacher in your volunteer service year at St. Anne School or St. Joseph School, K-8 Catholic elementary schools in Santa Ana, California. This opportunity will allow you to discover your real passions. Assist classroom teacher(s) in performing specific duties as assigned or undertaking specialized tasks including:
• Conduct basic skills development, learning exercises and tutoring with small groups of students
• Assess individual student needs/abilities and adapt curriculum for individual and small-group instruction
• Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials and classroom activities
• Lead classroom teaching
• Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
• Assist in establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior and implementing policies
The SJW may also assist with the school office, lunch and recess supervision, after school activities, and special projects. Roles and responsibilities adjusted based on the interest, skills and talents of the St. Joseph Worker. Ability to speak Spanish is preferred but not required.
