The Loretto Volunteer Program is a project of the Loretto Community, a welcoming and inclusive Catholic order of sisters with a 200-year history of advocating for peace, women’s equality and solutions to social injustices.
The Opportunity Center (OC) exists for all people experiencing homelessness and provides inclusive services to all in need. The OC operates a day resource center/emergency overflow night shelter where people experiencing homelessness can gather and where members of the El Paso Coalition for the Homeless can provide on-site services. The Center also strives to create a system of care for the most needy among this population through the development of transitional and long-term supportive housing. The Loretto Volunteer position at the OC is based on their skills and interests, but works closely with the OC’s Social Services Director. This position is a great fit for those who like to experieince something new each day, who are most successful in a supportive team environment and who are committed to intersectional work towards social justice!
Our service year runs from mid-August 2021 to mid-July 2022.
