White Violet Center for Eco-Justice, founded by the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, exists to teach, care, and inspire for all Creation. Grounded in an understanding of Providence Spirituality as hope and healing, the center offers leadership and education in the preservation, restoration and reverent use of all natural resources for a just and sustainable future. Using organic agriculture, eco-justice education and social advocacy, White Violet Center strives to promote an awareness and way of living which support all life.

The center is in need of fall interns who can volunteer for at least three months. Volunteers can work on the farm from 3 – 12 months.

At White Violet Center, you’ll find a farm store, alpacas, chickens, bees, USDA certified organic gardens with two high tunnels and two greenhouses, an orchard, and a classified forest.

We offer hands-on experience in sustainable farming. Specific duties largely revolve around small farm operations such as planting, weeding, seeding, and other growing-related tasks for our vegetables, herbs and flowers.

Interns/volunteers also participate in the care of our alpaca herd and flock of chickens. Eggs are collected and cleaned daily.

Our alpacas are professionally sheared once a year. Fiber arts such as felting, spinning, weaving, knitting, skirting, and dyeing are reserved for the winter months.

Interns also work in our Farm Store and help at the local farmers market.

Fall internship applications are now being accepted! The application can be found here.
