Goal of Program

At the Center for FaithJustice our mission is to inspire the next generation of leaders by creating programs that educate for justice in the Catholic tradition. Our programs, LeaderworX and the FaithJustice Fellowship, are rooted in the passage, "Faith without works is dead" (James 2:26). They strive to bring together faith and works. LeaderworX is a summer of service offering an integrated experience of prayer, active service, communal living, social justice education, ministry training, and leadership development. The Fellowship is a year of service opportunity that offers fellows a full time work placement with a faith-based non-profit in Central New Jersey, along with spiritual direction and professional development all while living in intentional community. Both programs allow participants to thoughtfully discern their vocation.

Type of Placement

For LeaderworX, participants will serve with a variety of organizations including soup kitchens and food pantries, urban revitalization/community gardening, elderly outreach, ecological restoration, day care/summer camps for urban youth, manual labor/light construction, and day programs for people with mental disabilities. For the Fellowship, placements include social service organizations, educational institutions, residential program for adults with disabilities, and parishes.

Service Area

For LeaderworX: New Jersey, Philadelphia, and West Virginia. For the Fellowship: Trenton, NJ.

Service Length

LeaderworX: 6-9 weeks; Fellowship: 9-10 months

Program Size

LeaderworX: 10-12 people; Fellowship: 3 people.

Requirements

LeaderworX age range is 19 - 25.

Financial Arrangements

Both programs offer housing, food, stipend, transportation. Fellowship offers health care as well.

Living Arrangements

LeaderworX live at CFJ's CASA retreat house; Fellows live at CFJ's St. James retreat house.

Training

LeaderworX receive ongoing training throughout summer. Fellows receive spiritual and professional support throughout the year.

Application Deadline

LeaderworX accepts applications until May 1, 2023. Fellowship accepts applications thru August 2023.
