Description: Johnson Service Corps (JSC) is a 10.5 month program for young adults, ages 21 to 28, to live together in intentional community, engage in justice work, and grow professionally, spiritually and personally in Durham, NC. While the program is rooted in the teachings of Jesus and founded by the Episcopal church, we are welcoming of people from all religious backgrounds and faith traditions. Johnson Service Corps is part of the Episcopal Service Corps network.
Over the course of the year, our Fellows live together in a shared house in Durham. Fellows serve 32 hours each week at local non-profit partners from mid-August through June. They engage in daily spiritual practice and holistic health practices, quarterly spiritual retreats, and intensive professional skills and leadership development training 8 hours per week.

Mercy Volunteers offer hospitality for those seeking solace and to refresh their spirit in the beauty of creation. Additionally, they care for sheep, chickens, bees, and a variety of raised garden beds.

Description: The Fireplace Community brings together progressive Catholics and spiritual seekers of all traditions for creativity, intentional community, and cooperative housing. Residents share an intergenerational and LGBTQ+ affirming home on the south side of Chicago (Hyde Park/Kenwood).

Residents work or study outside the community (the Fireplace is not our "full-time job"). Full/Voting Residents do about 10 hours per week of house activity, ranging from twice-weekly dinners/prayers to house administration. Subletters share community life at the Fireplace with a lesser commitment to its operations. Some residents are alumni of service programs who chose to continue living in community after their service year.

SPIRITUS missionaries live in men/women community households, grow in their faith through daily Mass and Holy Hour, discover and develop transferable skills, and impact over 5,000 students in grades 2-12.
