Goal of Program: 
To provide outreach services for the poor of Appalachia in the eastern Kentucky area with a charitable and compassionate Christ-centered approach.
Type of Placement: 
SHORT TERM (1 week): Skilled & semi-skilled in building trades and social services. SUMMER INTERNSHIP (10 weeks): supporting the outreach and volunteer programs through leadership and problem solving skills. Lead volunteer group work sites, lead spiritual reflections, support youth programs, grow your relationship with God, live in community, experience Appalachia. LONG TERM (1 year): Volunteer assistant, Construction Assistant, Outreach Assistant, Building Maintenance, Public Relations and Social Media Coordinator, Administrative Support, Class A CDL Truck Driver and Warehouse Worker, Retail Store Clerk, Fund Raising and Marketing Coordinator.
Service Area: 
Diocese of Lexington, Kentucky (eastern Kentucky/Appalachia).
Service Length: 
LONG TERM VOLUNTEERS: one year or a 10 week Summer Internship Program. SHORT TERM VOLUNTEERS: one week of service for individuals or groups of up to 30.
Requirements: 
The desire to live and serve in Jesus' name. LONG TERM: Men and women, 21 years of age, application and interview required. SHORT TERM: Individuals- volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Groups- skilled and non-skilled, & youth groups (entering or in high school) welcome. ALL VOLUNTEERS, 18 years and older, are required to complete a Safe Environment Training and a criminal background clearances.
Financial Arrangement: 
LONG TERM: Stipend, food allowance, transportation, & housing. SHORT TERM: Housing.
Living Arrangements: 
LONG TERM and SHORT TERM: Community living provided.
Program Size: 
LONG TERM: 10 volunteers. SHORT TERM: up to 30 in a group, two groups per week.
Training: 
LONG TERM VOLUNTEERS: Orientation and specific training. SHORT TERM VOLUNTEERS: Orientation.
Application Deadline: 
LONG TERM - Jan 15th for a March start date and July 15th for a September start date. First month is a discernment period. SUMMER INTERNSHIP - March 31 for a May 29 start date. SHORT TERM - 3-4 months in advance.

Outreach Worker

In the Appalachian region of eastern Kentucky children are hungry, homes are broken, and hearts are on fire for the Lord! Those are the people the Father Beiting Appalachian Mission Center serves. Are you up for the challenge? We are seeking a volunteer looking to grow in their faith while supporting our Outreach Program through intake and assessment of needs, coordination of home repairs, summer feeding, Christmas distribution, and youth programs, community referrals, and working as a team member with staff and volunteers. 2017 Summer Intern (May 29-August 6, 2017)

Do you desire to evangelize ecumenically in the name of the Catholic Church, have the ability to complete unfamiliar tasks using leadership, logic and people skills, and have a basic aptitude or willingness to learn? If so we invite you to walk with God this summer serving the poor in the Appalachian region of eastern Kentucky and leading volunteers from throughout the country on their week long mission experience. Our interns also support our summer youth programs of overnight camps and VBS. This internship includes daily mass, weekly adoration & spiritual growth, prayer in service and a 2-day retreat.
