PULSE - Pittsburgh Urban Leadership Service Experience
Affiliation:No affiliation, but we have a strong connection/history to the Mennonite Church.
Goal of Program:PULSE cultivates a community of young servant leaders to transform Pittsburgh. We invite talented university graduates to partner with Pittsburgh nonprofits for a year of service and leadership. Fellows serve with a nonprofit, live in community with other fellows, and grow as a leader through ongoing leadership training and development.
Type of Placement:Various. Fellows serve 35 hrs/week with a nonprofit organization. As best as we are able, we try to customize our service sites to match member passion, gifts and professional interests. Over the last 23 years, we've worked with over 125 different nonprofit organizations in Pittsburgh. Service Area:Pittsburgh, PA
Service Length:About a year, from the end of August to the beginning of August
Requirements:College graduates, open to living in intentional community, hard-working, self-starters, people who want to grow, commitment to service.
Financial Arrangement:Lodging, food, transportation stipend, personal stipend, utilities, internet/phone, reimbursable medical expenses, education funds for classes, excursions, etc.
Living Arrangements:Fellows live together in multiple PULSE owned and/or operated houses (4-8 bedroom) in the East End, Northside, and South Pittsburgh.
Program Size:Capacity is 36-42 fellows annually.
Training:Week-long orientation, two retreats (fall/spring), weekly seminars on Wednesdays from 1-5pm, mentoring and other personal and professional development opportunities.
