Misericordia Home

Goal of Program: Misericordia Home supports individuals with developmental disabilities in maximizing their level of independence and self-determination within an environment that fosters spirituality, dignity, respect and enhancement of quality of life. We promote development of natural family and community support, community awareness, education and advocacy.

Placement Type: Misericordia selects motivated post graduates to live in community and form a shared life with other volunteers at a place of residence located near Misericordia Home. Each volunteer will work in a role specifically selected to match the volunteer's gifts with the resident's needs. This role provides each volunteer an opportunity to experience a life of committed service with those with developmental disabilities among a dedicated professional staff. Come be a part of a very special family called Misericordia. Volunteers are guaranteed weekends away from the placement and week long summer and Christmas break. Participation in a volunteer community is an essential aspect of placement – includes opportunities for retreats, weekly dinners, weekly reflections, spiritual direction, etc.
