As Catholic Volunteer Network, we are alarmed and grieved by the escalating attacks on immigrant communities across the United States. Our communities are experiencing the disappearance of community members—through raids, detentions, and policies that treat human beings as threats instead of neighbors. These actions are not just harmful—they are unjust, immoral, and incompatible with our faith.
We believe that faithful service demands more than charity. It calls us to courage. Our mission is to nurture a lifelong commitment to justice, and that means resisting the systems that devalue and endanger our immigrant siblings.
Many of our member programs serve in communities where fear is growing. Where families are being torn apart. Where government overreach has crossed the lines of morality and compassion. And still—immigrant leaders, families, and youth continue to inspire us with their resilience, wisdom, and vision for a more just world.
CVN stands with them. Not quietly. Not later. Now.
To our members, alumni, and partners: this is the moment to recommit to solidarity that is bold, visible, and grounded in faith. We urge you to listen to immigrant voices, support local protection efforts, and speak out against policies rooted in racism and fear.
To our immigrant neighbors: you are not alone. You are not invisible. Your lives are sacred. And we will continue to walk beside you—not as saviors, but as companions in the struggle for dignity and belonging.
We lift up a prayer for safety—for every parent separated from their child, for every child who has experienced the trauma of being ripped away from their caretakers, every person living in fear of detention, and every family waiting for news that their loved one is still free. May God’s protection surround you. May the Spirit give you strength. May our actions reflect the deep, unshakable truth that you are beloved and you belong.
In Solidarity,
Cecilia Flores
