SPIRITUS Ministries is hiring Catholic young adults to join our missionary team and lead youth into a deeper relationship with Jesus. One of these missionaries will also serve as a Social Media intern with our Communications staff. From mid-August to mid-May, missionaries lead powerful retreats for Catholic youth in elementary, middle, and high school. While gaining practical experience, missionaries also live intentionally in men's or women's households, growing in virtue and community.

Description: Overview:
The Programs & Recruitment Associate serves for 35 hours per week at the Franciscan Mission Service’s headquarters, assisting with projects essential to furthering the organization’s mission. The Programs Associate will gain professional skills in communications, operations, development, and program administration— all of which are vital to the functioning of a nonprofit organization.

Position Responsibilities:
Assist with the many administrative aspects of the lay mission program such as: recruitment, discernment retreats, formation courses, and international lay missioner support. Duties include, but are not limited to, organizing speakers and sessions, attending recruitment events, researching and contacting partners for recruitment, behind-the-scenes event support, short-term mission trip logistics, and other administrative support.

Preferred Qualifications:

Mission: Our mission is to improve the community life of the Twin Towers neighborhood by engaging in urban agriculture, urban land restoration, and community education.

Organization Objectives:
To acquire, restore, and maintain vacant urban land so that it is functional and attractive to East Dayton’s Twin Towers neighborhood.
To cultivate and distribute nutritious food to the people of the neighborhood who do not have economic or geographical access to this food and to educate them on the use of this food.
To educate persons on simple and just Christian living, social justice, urban agriculture, native land restoration, and land stewardship. To undertake the necessary administrative and fundraising activities to advance the Mission of Mary Cooperative.

Responsibilities:
Farm Educational Programs
Assist in managing and fulfilling project outcomes for the Backyard Garden and Community Garden programs at MMC.
Assist in expanding educational reach of MMC through coordinating farm tours and educational programming.
Undertake necessary tasks to carry out future year-round farm educational programs developed at MMC.
Food Production and Distribution
Learn and perform all techniques of sustainable agriculture used at MMC
Assist Farm Manager and seasonal staff in all aspects of food production and garden maintenance.
Take a leadership role in the coordination of food distribution programs; the CSA program, Farm Market, and Community Meals
Volunteer Group Leadership
Create a positive experience for volunteers that visit MMC including educational tours, constructive task accomplishment, and age appropriate dialogue during work.
Lead or coordinate reflections and shared meals for volunteer groups if requested.
Develop new off-site volunteer opportunities and seek out project teams and individuals to fulfill MMC’s needs.
Participate alongside Farm Manager in planning crop rotations and food distribution plans throughout the growing season.
Plan events or experiences to build connections among the lay Marianist family in Dayton and the families/individuals served by the work of MMC.

Description: Bon Secours Volunteer Ministry (BSVM) is a service-focused, faith-based year of ministry where young adults serve full time at Richmond Community Hospital in Richmond VA. Placements are in the Emergency Room, Behavioral Health, Spiritual Care and Hospice. Volunteers live in intentional community with fellow recent grads in the neighborhoods in which they serve and commit to grow spiritually, live simply, learn through service with others, develop community, and practice God’s justice. BSVM staff facilitates an ecumenical spiritual formation curriculum that fosters reflective practitioners. BSVM provides: housing, health insurance, transportation, monthly stipend, assistance with loan deferment.

Description: Ignite Peace mobilizes individuals and organizations throughout the city to take action for systemic change and equips them with practical skills, knowledge, and resources to build a culture of nonviolence and anti-racism. Ignite Peace focuses its education and advocacy efforts on four core issues – criminal justice, immigration justice, anti-racism and nonviolence. The volunteer will serve as a program assistant as part of a collaborative team. The volunteer will advance their expertise in peace and nonviolence practices through training; facilitate education sessions on nonviolence and anti-racism; research and design informational materials on the core issues; plan programs, rallies, and prayer services; and engage with various collaborating groups.

Description: Seton Teaching Fellows (STF) is a paid year of professional missionary service that is radically evangelizing through urban education.

Salary and Benefits: No fundraising is required. Twice-monthly stipends throughout the year, totaling $12,500 for the yearOur program provides housing, utilities, and relocation for a low cost of living. Fellows have access to loan forbearance, educational grants, and healthcare if necessary.

Description: Marian House is a women-centered program co-sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy and the School Sisters of Notre Dame. They provide a safe, sober, and loving environment that challenges women to respect and love themselves, confront emotional and socioeconomic barriers, and transition to stable and independent lives. A volunteer is needed to serve as a Family Program Assistant, providing a supportive presence to residents and their children through assisting with case management, co-facilitating groups, planning programming and events and providing childcare support during women’s groups.

Description: Lydia’s House offers support to single mothers (ages 18-30) experiencing housing instability to connect them to housing; pertinent documents and government services; meaningful educational or employment opportunities; and a supportive community of women to help them walk through difficult times. Accompaniment and community are at the heart of this ministry. Two volunteers are needed to serve as a case manager and a daycare teacher. The case manager welcomes and orients new guests; accompanies guests to various appointments and helps them navigate governmental systems; and maintains the household by assisting with cleaning and cooking. The daycare teacher supports the lead teacher in daily classroom activities; engages children in play-based learning, story time, and creative activities; and encourages children’s social-emotional development.
