Red Cloud Indian School is seeking applicants for the 2019-2020 Red Cloud Volunteer Program cohort, specifically for the position of High School Social Studies Teacher.
Position starts July 22, 2019 with volunteer orientation, and the school year begins in mid-August.
Red Cloud Volunteers work for and with the Oglala Lakota people for justice in education on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
Red Cloud Volunteers serve primarily as teachers while also earning a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and driving school buses, assist with after-school activities and coaching, and serve Red Cloud in various other capacities. Volunteers share life with fellow volunteers in intentional communities of 6-10, and volunteer life is shaped by the the program pillars of: Justice in Education, Spirituality, Community, and Living Simply.
Although previous educational experience is valued, this is not a requirement.
Red Cloud Volunteers receive:

Opportunities for spiritual formation (including retreats and days of reflection).
Although our AmeriCorps grant is not guaranteed from year to year, most volunteers also serve concurrently as part-time AmeriCorps volunteers.
