Are you a young professional who wants to use your career for good, but aren’t quite sure how? “Just Love” with a small but mighty volunteer program! GSV is a one-year full-time volunteer program that serves women, children, and adolescents affected by poverty, violence and neglect.

This is a unique opportunity to learn how policies (laws, regulations, and administrative directives) and various funding translate into practice at the program level. The GSV may be involved in local and state advocacy activities to promote funding for programs that provide trauma-informed strength-based services for youth, families and communities. The GSV may attend both coalition meetings and site visits to learn more about policy issues affecting Good Shepherd programs. The GSV will work collaboratively with other departments to learn about program models and outcomes, assist with special events and programming, conduct research on current policy and best practices, and aid in researching information to apply for public and private funding.

We need people who are compassionate, flexible, and are up for a challenge. As a Good Shepherd Volunteer you will live in community with other volunteers and grow in the practice of the 4 Tenets of GSV: social justice, community, spirituality, and simplicity. You will get real world experience in social good career paths, which will allow you to discern your place in the world beyond a year of service.
