Program Timing: Ongoing / Location: Orange, CA

Discover your passions and make a difference in the lives of vulnerable community members and at-risk families during a volunteer year of service by working with hospital’s community benefit team. This department places a specific emphasis in dedicating resources to improve the health and quality of life for community members, especially those living on the margins.

The SJW will assist in responding to the greatest needs including mental health & substance use, immigration status and economic security. Projects may involve giving presentations, teaching classes, assisting with clinics, screenings and/or visiting and providing care for patients in the community. The SJW also has an opportunity to be involved with key projects related to human trafficking, a very prevalent modern-day slavery issue.

The SJW may also work directly with local Family Resource Centers who provide parent, teen and child education classes, support groups, counseling services, and extend information/resources to community members. Ability to speak Spanish is preferred.
