Food Access Liaison

Start: Aug 8, 2023 / End: Jul 20, 2024 / Location: Philadelphia, PA

Nationalities Service Center provides comprehensive services to immigrants and refugees, including legal protections, community integration, access to health and wellness services, and opportunities to achieve English language proficiency. A Mercy Volunteer is needed to serve as a food access liaison. The volunteer will staff and promote the on-site food pantry, receive food deliveries, and build partnerships to obtain additional pantry items. The volunteer will also support the health team by accompanying clients to medical appointments.

Mercy Volunteers promote social change through a year of service in the spirit of mutuality with people experiencing injustice. While serving, Mercy Volunteers cultivate mercy and justice by embracing compassionate service, social justice, spiritual growth, and a simple lifestyle in community. Volunteers receive housing, transportation, monthly stipends, and health insurance, and can differ student loans. There are opportunities to participate in retreats, spiritual direction, and mentoring.
