A Mercy Volunteer is needed to compassionately serve with People’s Water Board (PWB), a grass-roots coalition of thirty Southeast Michigan organizations (anti-poverty, social justice, environmental, conservation, faith-based) working together to protect our water from pollution, high water rates, privatization, and the denial of water and sanitation services to all people. PWB advocates for policies and programs to ensure clean and affordable water for all residents—regardless of ability to pay. The Mercy Volunteer will serve as a services coordinator to organize community forums, press conferences, monthly meetings, presentations, demonstrations, and legislative visits as well as manage the social media. The volunteer will support residents to access clean and affordable water.
Mercy Volunteers promote social change through compassionate service in the spirit of mutuality within economically poor and socially marginalized communities in the United States and South America. Volunteers live together in an intentional community and commit to spiritual growth and a simple/sustainable lifestyle. All volunteers are provided with housing, transportation, monthly stipends, and retreats.
